How the salik recharge works

A short walkthrough of the three gov-portal style steps — from plate details to a completed UAE toll balance top-up.

01

Recharge amount

On Recharge, enter your UAE mobile, pick emirate, category and plate code. Choose an amount from AED 50 to 500.

02

Payment

Review the total (amount + flat service fee) and confirm on the secure payment page. Card details go to the payment provider directly.

03

Confirmation

Get a confirmation on screen and (if provided) by email. The UAE toll balance is queued for same-day update.

Understanding the plate code

Every UAE plate carries a code specific to the emirate and the plate category. Private cars in Dubai use letter codes (A, B, C...); Abu Dhabi uses numeric codes (1–50); taxis, motorcycles, commercial and government vehicles each have their own code sets. The recharge form loads the right list after you pick the emirate and category.

Pre-paid toll balance

Your toll account holds an AED prepaid balance. Each gantry pass deducts the fare automatically. When the balance drops below a single fare, drivers typically top it up through a channel like this one or through an operator app.

Timing

Requests during working hours (Sunday–Thursday, 09:00–18:00 Gulf Standard Time) are processed the same working day. Late-evening, Friday and Saturday requests are typically applied the next working morning. For an early-morning trip, top up in advance.

What's next

Once your toll balance is updated, pass UAE gantries as usual. If you want to confirm the current value, use Balance check before the trip.
